McDonald’s Japan brings nostalgic ‘Shin-chan’ toys to Happy Meals

For decades, Shin-Chan has remained a beloved and entertaining character brought to life by Yoshito Usui’s popular manga series, Crayon Shin-Chan. Recently, McDonald’s Japan revealed a new set of toys as a part of its Happy Meal collection inspired by the manga and the iconic character.

The official McDonald’s Japan website announced the launch date of the upcoming Happy Meal toys that have been playfully crafted to bring back the essence of the nostalgic character that many of us have grown up with. This collection consists of six items: Butts vs Butt: Table Hockey set, Burburuzaemon’s Swordfighting Game, the Action Beam! Disc Launcher and more. 

According to the Mantan web, McDonald’s restaurants nationwide will soon begin to circulate these toys with Happy Meals starting 13 June. McDonald’s Japan has also released an official video promo featuring the line-up of these products. These toys will be launched as a promotional effort  for the upcoming 33rd movie of the franchise.

The Crayon Shin-chan Happy Meal toys will be on offer from 13 to 17 June available for a limited time. This exclusive campaign has been segregated in two parts, with a set of three specific toys that will be  released each week.

The Shin-chan Disk Launcher, Shiro’s Header Match, and the Buriburizaemon Swordfighting Game will be available from 13 to 19 June as a part of exclusive offer. This also includes an interactive battle setup with Buriburizaemon and a mini ping pong game featuring Shin-chan and his dog, Shiro. The disk launcher comes with a small figure of Shin-chan dressed as his hero, Action Kamen, offering a playful tribute to the iconic world of Japanese superheroes.

From June 20–26, McDonald’s will offer ‘Popping Out, Shiro-chan,’ the ‘Chocobi Box Throwing Game’ and ‘Butt vs. Butt Table Hockey.’ ‘Popping Out, Shiro-chan,’ a spring-loaded mechanism launches a mini figure of Shin-chan dressed as his beloved dog, Shiro, from a doghouse. 

McDonald’s has launched the Chocobi Box toy, inspired by the anime character’s favourite snack, which challenges kids to toss miniature Chocobi boxes into a target. ‘Butt vs. Butt Table Hockey’ the last collectible toy from the kit stands out as a comedic twist to classic tabletop hockey rooting from the original essence of the anime.

The ultimate goal of the game is to toss Shin-Chan’s favorite snack back into their respective boxes. The toy also serves as a multi purpose small storage container for other items.The paddles shaped like buttocks are arguably a quirky addition to the collection that represents Shin-chan and Buriburizaemon. It captures the true essence of the show’s quirky sense of humour.

For the remaining days of June, you can get all the six Shin-Chan action toys. In addition to that each toy features a scannable code that you can use to access a 3D racing game. This limited time campaign comes as a partnership effort with the upcoming movie of the franchise- Crayon Shin-Chan the Movie: Super Hot! that is all set to hit the theatres on 8 August 2025.
