We do think creative, but do we exactly know the way of writing a story and developing own characters? If not, then here’s a place where you can get the grip!
Here comes a bright chance for you to get into the groove of story and character development and experience the happiness of creating your own story and characters for an animated short film with Void Films Founder Siddharth Maskeri’s 6 day workshop, Keep it Short.
Slated from 17 to 22nd of this month at Mumbai, this 6 day workshop, will give way to exquisite knowledge and in-depth teaching about the world of content development and the step by step process of executing original stories.
The chief highlights of this workshop are deciding the target audience for your story, creating characters with understanding the importance of protagonists and antagonists, the mission of the characters in your story, finalizing on the dialogues, creating a poster of your story and ultimately getting to know the ins and outs of designing an appealing pitching plan for your story.
To participate in this workshop, one must be equipped with one skill ,which could be ideation, writing, art and craft, acting, presentation, marketing, execution in either 3D, 2D processes.
Unfolding more about the prime idea behind this 6 day workshop, Siddharth, shares, “This is an initiative to empower the students for their entire lives. Not only will they gain the tools and tricks of content development, but also become a part of a large network of content creators who will unite to create an opportunity for each other.”
Siddharth feels that we have stories around us and we just need to observe them and pick situations to create our own story. Hence, he has added a very interesting touch to this workshop in which the attendees will be taken to different places in Mumbai during their story development process. Starting from the 17th Dec, the attendees will be taken to Gateway of India, Inodai Waldorf School, Juhu Beach, National Park, and Phoenix Mall.
Sharing more on this thought of taking an outdoor workshop, Siddharth informs, “One cannot create content sitting inside closed doors. Our mind needs information to assimilate and then a lot of space to play around and pick out elements of life and weave it together.
The first day of the workshop is a rebirth for all those who are going to take a step in to a new world of content creation, hence the inauguration of the first day will be watching a sunrise at Gateway of India. Similarly the rest of the days, the venue has been chosen according to the topic that will be covered and the direction in which the students can benefit the most out of this workshop. One must remember that the packaging is as important as the content…sometimes even more. ”
According to Siddharth, a person should properly know oneself and it’s only then he/she can create a good character for a story and to justify this concept, Siddharth, in his workshop has kept a section, where the attendees will be told to prepare a 5 minute speech accompanied with a visual presentation about them.
Adds more, “There are many facets of a character that one must create to make it believable and the best example to learn from is yourself. So, let’s start from within in then go outwards.”
The workshop also offers, Screening of Local and International TVCS, Screening of Local and International Short Films of Students and Professionals, Screening of an animated tele serials and feature films.
Another challenging area, which Siddharth plans to highlight this workshop, is to be able to tell your story in a one-liner. Siddharth believes that a story should be clear in the creator’s mind so that it is written easily in a single statement.
Siddharth asserts “We’ll learn the art of Keeping it Short. No one has time to read your story! I believe apart from the content of my story The Pickle Jar Adventure, my visiting card pitch was a key in winning time from some of the top producers, distributors and film makers at Annecy.”
For sure, after this workshop an attendee will be ready with entertaining content that will be based on strong research and understanding of the audience.
Another noted aspect of Keep it short is that after the completion of this workshop, participants can continue with the group and network to create the promo under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.
Adds further, “This will be a 3 month program in which the participants will write the entire script of either the film or a series, create a pitch bible and execute a promo. The product will be pitched internationally and within India to various buyers. Upon pre-selling this product, the students will get their opportunity to work on the long format. The will also retain a small share of their product.”
Last Date of Registration for the workshop is the 12th of December with only 30 seats remaining!
So Hurry! And grab your chance of creating your own story.
