FICCI BAF Awards 2014 Deadline Extended to 14 February:Gaming Categories Announced

If you’ve missed to submit your entry for this year’s FICCI Best Animated Frame Awards [BAF] 2014, a part of 15th Edition of FICCI FRAMES then here’s a chance to send in your submissions till 14th  February. The FICCI BAF awards ceremony will be held on 12th March at Renaissance Hotel, Powai, Mumbai.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com about the awards, FICCI says, “FICCI-BAF awards have become one of the most reputed awards globally in the field of Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming in the past 10 years which is going to be bigger and better with all its editions. Best entries from all over the world compete for this award every year. Change in the formats and categories in this edition aims to keep pace with the developments in the Animation, Visual Effects & Gaming sectors.”

The new things about this year’s FICCI BAF Award are International and Indian competition formats along with new Gaming Category having subcategories social games and cross platform games. Over 200 entries have already been received for this award from around the globe including UK, USA, Canada, Ukraine, China.

Elaborating on the Indian and International Categories, FICCI informs, “This year, the Indian entries have an option to enter their entries to compete either in international format or Indian format or both formats. Any Indian entry who wishes to compete among Indian entries only, they should enter into Indian format only. By doing so, they will compete with the entries that have opted either for Indian format or both formats without being exposed to international entries for competition.

Adding more to it, FICCI says, “, If an Indian entry would like to compete among both Indian and international entries, they have to opt for both format. So, if an Indian entry is opting to compete in both formats, they are doubling their chance of winning. The international entries have to opt for international formats only. The idea behind introducing these formats is to provide a level playing field for the Indian entries to compete for the award who feel that they are not strong enough as an entry against their international counterparts who are big enough with their technologies and resources. “

Coming to new Gaming Categories, FICCI points out that the categories are created keeping in mind the current developments in the gaming industry

“These days, large numbers of people are playing games on social platforms & cross platforms, and hence it is necessary to capture theses games to compete for the award in their respective categories.” Added further.

And also, we come to know that the theme for 15th Edition of FICCI FRAMES, which is set from 12th-14th March will focus on Transforming lives through Media & Entertainment.

“Apart from regular panel discussions, we are having master-classes and workshops also in the field of Animation/VFX. Karnataka is one of the partner states of this edition of FRAMES.  Also, this year we are doing a special session with INK Conference every evening for the three days at FRAMES called FICCI-INK Salon.”, concludes FICCI
